Abali Yogurt Soda
Posted: January 16th, 2008 | Author: saldarji | Filed under: stuff | 8 Comments »I really like Chass, and mix some up for myself on occasion. My parents say that you should only drink Chass in the summertime, but I think it tastes pretty good all the time. I was in a local Mid-East Mart with Tracey the other day and I found this Abali Yogurt Soda. I thought I’d try it out. In retrospect, I wish I had taken the time to read this review and this review before putting the bottle to my lips.
I would not recommend Abali Yogurt Soda to anyone. It is sour, acidic-tasting and leaves a terrible aftertaste. Maybe the mint-flavored one is better, but you won’t get me to try it.
The ingredients, in order, are: milk, yogurt culture, carbonated water and salt.
Yuck.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this drink, I crave it over the summer and have learned to make it on my own at home.
I personally think the Abali brand of yogurt soda is a wonderful drink, pretty good yogurt soda although not as good as my dad’s homemade yogurt soda, but much better than other yogurt sodas I’ve tried.
Having grown up drinking it, I can’t understand why someone wouldn’t love it – it’s incredibly refreshing and almost addictive. However, I guess that it’s an acquired taste in that anytime I ask a friend to try it, they don’t like it.
Before trying it, you must not have ANY expectations at all – don’t expect SODA-SWEET, just expect nothing. Open you mind, make it blank, and drink… it’s especially awesome after a hot, sweaty day (in which case the saltiness of the drink replenishes your electrolytes).
This is my absolutely favorite drink to drink in the world. It kinda hurts to see people write horrible things about yogurt soda, but oh well, they’re the ones missing out.
I have yet to find a liquor that goes well with doogh (yogurt soda), however. Maybe vodka? but adulterating the delicious drink seems wrong, anyway.
I like butter milk which most people don’t like, I like the heavier kind Bulgarian. The Abali is salter and fizzier than butter milk but reminds me of it.
Then again I have strong tastebuds they don’t get overwhelmed like most people’s do.
Charles.
This drink leaves my mouth twitching and disturbed. It is gross. It is everything you expect fizzy yogurt soda to be. Nothing redeemable about this concoction. My main question is WHY? Why do this to your face?
Thank you.
I hope this serves as a warning. Anyone who did not grow up drinking this foul, foul fluid, only drinks because they think it is exotic. And exotic is not better. It is not. Have a coke.
Your welcome.
what can i say accept doogh is a mirical drink from god thank god for yogurt soda thank you bye.
i picked up this drink in a middle eastern
store just to try it, and love it.
don’t know how to describe it. sour and fizzy
(maybe like a diluted butter milk with a fizz or carbonation. ) I think it tastes great.
Dough Ab-Ali is the BEST drink in the world. I can not imagine anyone who would not like it.
You need your brain examined man.
& that’s all I’m gonna say!
I too learned to enjoy this in Iran! Now I wish they made a non fat version!
Tried this six months ago– now I’m addicted. I clean out the Persian grocery store every other week… Sorry your taste buds are weak; this stuff is GREAT.
