I was shopping the Bentonville Wal-Mart a few weeks ago and I made an impulse purchase of Airplane!. I think it is one of the funniest movies ever made. I’ve seen it three times already, and I convinced Alejandro to watch it with me tonight. There are so many classic lines in that movie.
[Randy is crying]
Rumack: Randy, are you all right?
Randy: Oh, Dr. Rumack, I’m scared. I’ve never been so scared. And besides, I’m 26 and I’m not married.
Rumack: We’re going to make it, you’ve got to believe that.
[a woman passenger comes in]
Mrs. Hammen: Dr. Rumack, do you have any idea when we’ll be landing?
Rumack: Pretty soon, how are you bearing up?
Mrs. Hammen: Well, to be honest, I’ve never been so scared. At least I have a husband.
[Randy cries harder]
On a non-Airplane! note, I’m flying out to Boston tomorrow and back on Sunday. That’s the plan. Unfortunately, it looks like the weather in the next few days may be rough. It could be a hellish travel weekend for me.

Stelt (aka Ruud Steltenpool) left a comment on my last entry that I could have very easily just posted the SVG of the magpie. It does seem sort of silly to export it as a .PNG file and upload that when most browsers are capable of displaying .SVG files.
In my defense, I was actually forced to use a PNG because Blogger will not let me embed the SVG. But even so, I never thought that anyone may want to use the file to do something else…and besides my work isn’t that good! So, I have posted the .SVG file here.
By the way, I googled Ruud Steltenpool and found out that he is a significant contributor to SVG. I won’t lie…I’m pretty flattered to count him among one of my 15 or so readers!

I spent the day today hanging out indoors and working on websites. I’m in the process of migrating all of my domains over to godaddy. It has been a pretty confusing experience, but I am muddling through it. This blog, and some of the other sites I host, may be down tomorrow for a bit while the nameservers switch over.
I’m working on a logo for Tracey’s new web presence. So I made the SVG (vector) graphic below.

You may be wondering why I am posting when I should be out on a camping trip. Well, I wimped out because of the weather. It is supposed to drop to 15 degrees tonight, and my sleeping bag is only rated to 32 degrees. I suppose I could have bought new equipment, but I decided to wait until it gets warmer. Dave, my coworker, decided to brave it and is probably cooking dinner right about now.
I have spent the day working on Tracey’s new website. That means that I am learning about Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) again. Her old site is built using CSS as well. I have two goals for this project. The first is that it has too look professional, and not built by a part-timer. And secondly, I’d like to start writing PHP to automate some of the management.

I am supposed to go hiking/camping this weekend on Pigeon Roost Trail. It is supposed to be a moderate to difficult hike. I am guessing that this is probably a very hard way to get started with hiking/camping here in the US. What will make it even more difficult is that the temperature here is dropping.
A few clouds. Highs in the mid 40s and lows in the low 20s.
Brrrr! I am heading off to Wal-Mart to purchase some thermals, gloves and a hat. I’m going with an Eagle Scout (who is also our PM here) who seems to know what he is doing. My sleeping bag is only rated to 32 degrees…which could also pose a pretty serious issue, but I have a blanket and plan on sleeping in clothes.

I was wandering around the big Wal-Mart Supercenter last night and Patricia (Alejandro’s girlfriend) pointed out the largest jar of kosher dill pickles I have ever seen. I’ve put it next to a pack of cards so you can see the scale.
Oh, the cards were a gift from Tracey. She picked them up from France, where they have a different lettering scheme (R for Roi, D for Dame, V for Valet…)
I have a random fact: pickles have no calories because they take more energy to consume than they contain (at least thats what I read on the Internet.)

I purchased a number of items over the last few weeks to go camping in Arkansas. Here is a brief list:
- Coleman Exponent Inyo 2 tent – $80
- Coleman Exponent 32° Canyon Mummy Bag – $40
- REI Quick UL 45 Pack – $80
- Platypus Hoser Reservoir 3L – $23
- Mess Kit – $5
- Compass – $5
- Misc – Whistle, Small LED Flashlight, Poncho, etc.
There will probably be a bunch of other small items I will need to purchase before I go camping, such as toilet paper and a lighter. Also, I found a site which has various schematics for
DIY backpacking stoves.
